Local Border Patrol seizes Marijuana, Meth, and rescue illegal alien

Calexico, Calif. – Yesterday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Border Patrol station arrested three men attempting to smuggle 137.3 pounds of marijuana on their backs with an estimated street value of $109,840 into the United States.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m., when an agent detected four suspected illegal aliens walking north from the international border fence towards Interstate 8. Three of the men had large bundles strapped to their backs. Border Patrol agents intercepted the men, all Mexican nationals, ages 46, 33, and 22. Agents determined that they were illegal aliens and placed them under arrest. One individual ran back to Mexico.

 

The men and the marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.

 

CBP Rescues Lost Illegal Alien in California

Jacumba, Calif. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Air and Marine (OAM) and El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents worked together to rescue a distressed illegal alien who had lost his way while making an attempt to illegally enter the United States.

The incident occurred this morning at approximately 5:27 a.m., when Border Patrol dispatch received a call from the California Highway Patrol regarding an individual in distress that was lost in the mountainous area south of Jacumba, Calif. Border Patrol’s Search Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) and CBP OAM were notified and deployed a team to the area. After a systematic search of the last reported location, a helicopter from CBP OAM found the man at approximately 8 a.m. Agents rendered medical attention and determined that the man appeared to be in a good physical condition and did not require further medical care.

 

The 28-year-old man was determined to be a Mexican citizen illegally present in the United States and was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol station for processing and further evaluation.

 

El Centro Sector Border Patrol Seizes $800,000 Worth of Methamphetamine at Checkpoint

Salton City, Calif. – On Friday morning, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station apprehended a suspected narcotics smuggler at the Highway 86 checkpoint and seized 25 pounds of methamphetamine.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m., when a 54-year-old male, approached the Border Patrol checkpoint located between Westmorland and Salton City. A canine team alerted to the vehicle, a 1995 Isuzu Trooper, and was subsequently referred to secondary inspection. Upon further investigation, agents discovered six packages of methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle.

 

The methamphetamine had a combined weight of approximately 25 pounds and an estimated street value of $800,000. The man, a United States Citizen, was arrested as the sole suspect in the case.

 

The suspect, vehicle, and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
