BRAWLEY – The Brawley Lady Wildcats hoped to continue their winning ways after their Friday night win over Calexico; but that wasn’t to be Tuesday night. After coming out strong in the first quarter with a 12-7 lead, the Cats lost to Central tonight 44-45.
This was Senior night for Brawley and they wanted to win this game. The ‘Cats came on strong in the first quarter with lots of hustle and some good shooting. Central recovered their poise and shooting ability and by the half, lead 29-25.
The second half of the game belonged to Central. Brawley fought hard and kept the game from being a blow-out, but Central’s athleticism was too much for them. The Lady Spartans were the stronger team. The Cats, thanks to two late technical fouls on Central, came close to winning; but failed shots at the free throw line gave the win to Central.
Avri Valdez was high point for Brawley with 18 points and Nettie Williams was the standout player for Central. This was the last home game for Brawley. They play Calipat at Calipat on Friday.
