BRAWLEY — Since the 1980’s, The 2130 Brawley Knights of Columbus council has been helping the community in numerous ways, Sunday afternoon, they added to their list of successful events with their Annual Barbecue Pit fundraiser at the Sacred Heart Hall.

“With this barbecue, this helps us help the community,” explained Art Barros, the chairman of the event. “It also helps our church. We do different things around the community such as road clean ups on the highways. At the Knights of Columbus, we’re out to help everyone out. The main function of the fundraiser today is to help pay for the community work we do.”

“We have a member who told me he’s been in the council for 50 years, so we’ve been here a long time,” commented Barros. “It’s a lot of work, but it’s a lot of fun. You see all these people coming through, we all get together and we see each others’ families. The community likes to see us and they come out and support us all the time.”
