Jesus L. Avila Jr. “Jesse”

January 27, 1953 – September 5, 2015

A mass will be offered for Jesse Avila on Monday, September 14 at St. Margaret Mary Church at 9:00 a.m. Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, at Frye Chapel and Mortuary from 6-9 p.m. , with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be private.

Jesus Avila, 62, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 5th at Pioneers Memorial Hospital with loved ones by his side. Born and raise in Brawley, CA the son of Jesus and Angelina Avila, he was a life long resident.

He graduated from BUHS in 1972, where he was active in ASB, AFS, yearbook and The Cadets. Upon graduating from BUHS he enlisted in the Air Force.

After serving 4 years he then married his wife, Elizabeth, on February 4, 1978, in San Diego, and they had five children, Mark, Diane, Michelle, Laura and Melissa.

He worked in banking for over 25 years, Alsco, and IID. He was an active member for the Workforce Investment Board and Lion’s Club where he participated in the Chuckwagon Breakfast, Chili Cookoff and Relay for Life.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking with children and making people laugh especially, “his girls”

Jesse is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Avila, and his sister, Yolanda Duarte.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Avila of Brawley, son, Mark Avila of Chicago, IL, daughters, Diane Avila, Michelle Avila, Laura Avila, Melissa Avila, and Veronica Avila all of Brawley, his mother, Angelina Avila of Brawley, sisters, Maria Felix of San Diego, Paz Dailey of North Dakota, and Terry Martinez of Thermal, CA, plus numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

    He was a great guy and i enjoyed working with him at Bank of America.
