IMPERIAL COUNTY – The Imperial County Film Commission today announced details for the upcoming 4th Annual Imperial Valley Film Festival and Artist Showcase, to be held August 8-9.
This year’s event will be held on the beautiful SDSU campus in Calexico, not at the Imperial Valley Mall Cinemark as it has been in the past.
“SDSU’s Rodney Auditorium and Steppling Gallery will be an excellent backdrop for this unique event, celebrating art, film and music,”  commented Charla Teeters, executive director of the IC Film Commission.
Activities for the Festival will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, August 8, at Steppling Art Gallery.
The public is invited to join them in the gallery for great art, fantastic cocktails and some great music. The festival’s opening film will start at 7:30pm in Rodney Auditorium with a filmmaker Q&A immediately after.
This year’s festival will provide many educational experiences and opportunities for interaction with industry professionals. Workshops are free and open to the public and will be held at various times throughout the two-day event.
Workshop titles for this year are: Casting/Auditioning, Makeup: Beauty and Horror, Basics of Camerawork, Basics of Acting, and Scriptwriting. Industry professionals will be leading each of these workshops. Visit www.IVFilmFestival.com for details, schedules and to RSVP your attendance.
Short Film competition screenings begin at 11:00am, August 9, at Rodney Auditorium on the SDSU Calexico Campus. All films are not necessarily appropriate for all audiences. For a screening schedule, please visit www.IVFilmFestival.com.
At 7 p.m. Saturday evening, August 9, the extended trailer “Lady of Csejte†will be screened followed by a Filmmaker Q&A with Screenwriter Matt Jacobs and Director Andrei Konst. “Lady of Csejte†is from the production company of Hayden and Tove Christensen’s Glacier Films, and will not be released in theaters until winter of 2014. The Festival will conclude with an Awards Ceremony and after party at 9pm in the Steppling Art Gallery.
Passes for the Festival go on sale July 9th. For up-to-date information regarding all screening and event activities, please see the festival website at www.IVFilmFestival.com.
