Imperial Valley Produce Scholarships Announced


imperial valley vegetable growers associationThe Imperial Valley Vegetable Growers Association is pleased to announce the recipients of its Imperial Valley Produce Scholarships, as well as the Ed McGrew Scholarship. The purpose of these scholarships is to assist students who wish to launch or continue their studies in agricultural related majors, and is only awarded to Imperial Valley students attending a four-year college who maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or above.

The following Imperial Valley students will receive an Imperial Valley Produce Scholarship for the first time this year

  • Jerryca Haller, Imperial High School
  • Joshua Trimm, Brawley Union High School
  • Shelby Dill, Brawley Union High School
  • Cierra Allen, Brawley Union High School
  • Dawson Pfister, Holtville High School
  • Diana Ramirez, Holtville High School
  • Jonathan Phillips, Holtville High School

The following college students have received the Imperial Valley Produce Scholarship again this year

  • Tiffani Canez –for University of Arizona, a graduate of Central Union High School
  • Hunter Singh –Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo, a graduate of Brawley Union High School
  • Connor Trimm –Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo, a graduate of Brawley Union High School
  • Carlos Gomez – Cal-Poly, Pomona, a graduate of Imperial High School,
  • Remington Campbell, Lewis & Clark College, a graduate of Imperial High School
  • Joshua Klockmann, Cal-Poly, Pomona, a graduate of Brawley Union High School

The funds for the Produce Scholarship were raised this year by the Imperial Valley Vegetable Growers Association from donations to the scholarship fund from Five Crowns Marketing, Keithly-William Seeds, TS & L Seed, LaBrucherie Irrigation Supply, Imperial Compost, and Oceano Packing.

The Ed McGrew Scholarship is awarded to Conner Trimm, his third time to receive this scholarship. The McGrew Scholarship, created by IVVGA to honor founding member and still an advisory board member Ed McGrew, is also awarded based on the same criterion and with the additional requirement that the student attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.  Mr. McGrew is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
