Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) Solar Job Fair

EL CENTRO – With work beginning as early as January 2013, IVEDC and Imperial County Workforce Development Office (ICWDO) in conjunction with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Union Local 569 and Laborer’s Union Local 1184 will be hosting a solar job fair on December 6, 2012 at the Barbara Worth Resort and Country Club from 10am to 6pm at 2050 Country Club Dr. Holtville, CA 92250.

IVEDC’s purpose for the job fair is to launch a hire local campaign to support the Imperial Valley solar industry.

Job seekers will receive instruction on the process of solar construction and detailed information on the solar project itself from project representatives, followed by a presentation from both organizations with information on basic union requirements, positions available and career training. In some cases qualified employees may be paid during training. Job seekers will then have an opportunity to speak one-on-one with union hiring agents for follow up questions. Throughout the day applicants will have the opportunity to complete onsite prescreening employment applications.

The Labor Union Local 1184 will be seeking to fill positions for Solar Rack Installers, Skilled Laborers, Forklift Drivers, Grade All Operators, CDL Water Truck Drivers, Welders, and Site Safety Personnel ($14-$34/hr + benefits).

The IBEW Union Local 569 will be seeking qualified applicants to fill positions for their Electrician’s Apprentice ($15-$37/hr + benefits) and Electrician’s Trainee ($12-$28/hr + benefits) programs. Trainees will receive classroom instruction and field based training. Trainees will be paid during training.
