The year 2015 has brought us a number of new and proposed laws which will significantly impact the California workplace. This presentation will cover paid sick leave, new guidance on independent contractors and proposed rules impacting exempt employees. The presenter will also discuss employment case and hot issue updates, including transgender people in the workplace and workplace safety issues.
Bullying in the Workplace
While discussions about workplace bullying are newer to human resource, the argument for preventing workplace harassment is well established. Don’t underestimate the non-ligation related costs associated with workplace bullying and claims of harassment. Learn the distinction and overlap between these concepts and areas where employers can limit company liability to proactively stop these behaviors.
The mock interview will be a series of vignettes that portray the pitfalls of poorly managed interviews and lack of preparedness by the applicant while also addressing the proper methods of a professional interview.
Employment Relationships under the Fair Labor Standards Act
The presentation will include information on the “employee relationship” and the significance of the determination in applying provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
