The year 2015 has brought us a number of new andÂ proposed laws which will significantly impact the California workplace. This presentation will cover paidÂ sick leave, new guidance on independent contractorsÂ and proposed rules impacting exempt employees.Â The presenter will also discuss employment case andÂ hot issue updates, including transgender people in theÂ workplace and workplace safety issues.
Bullying in the Workplace
While discussions about workplace bullying areÂ newer to human resource, the argument for preventingÂ workplace harassment is well established. Donâ€™tÂ underestimate the non-ligation related costs associatedÂ with workplace bullying and claims of harassment.Â Learn the distinction and overlap between theseÂ concepts and areas where employers can limitÂ company liability to proactively stop these behaviors.
The mock interview will be a series of vignettes thatÂ portray the pitfalls of poorly managed interviewsÂ and lack of preparedness by the applicant whileÂ also addressing the proper methods of a professionalÂ interview.
Employment Relationships under the Fair LaborÂ Standards Act
The presentation will include information on theÂ â€œemployee relationshipâ€ and the significance of theÂ determination in applying provisions of the Fair LaborÂ Standards Act.
