IVC Campus – The Imperial Valley College’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will be having the Annual Red/White Scrimmage on Thursday, November 1st, 2012 starting at 6pm in the DePaoli Sports Complex on the campus of IVC.
The scrimmage is Free to attend and is open to the public. There will be drawings for door prizes, games and fun for the entire family including Free hotdogs for all in attendance as well. The event will start with the Women’s scrimmage at 6pm followed by the Men’s team scrimmage after the exciting dunk contest.
The Women’s team will be under the leadership of new head coach, Andrew Robinson. Coach Robinson had been an assistant with IVC’s Men’s team for a number of years and now assumes his first head coaching position. The Women’s team is a virtual Imperial Valley high school all-star team made up of the best high school players from local high schools these past few years. The Lady Arabs look to challenge for a conference title this year.
The Men’s team is coming off one of the most successful campaigns in recent years losing to Citrus College in the second round of the state playoffs. Head Coach Tyson Aye in his 8th year of coaching here at IVC and will be leading almost an entirely new team this season. The season ending injury to all-conference guard Brandon Newman at the start of camp is disappointing, but Coach Aye’s ability to plug new players in has produced hidden jewels over the years. Scrimmage on November 1st will be your opportunity to see this year’s team for the first time and get a glimpse of the team that hopes to repeat last year’s run to the state playoffs.
