CALEXICO — The Calexico girls’ softball team hosted the Imperial Tigers for a conference game Tuesday, March 22, with the Tigers winning in a low scoring game, 1-0. The Tigers stand at 4-5-1.
Calexico and Imperial both struggled at the plate throughout the game, but Imperial was able to put the ball in play more, eventually scoring their only run of the game in the top of the 3rd inning.
“It was a slow but interesting game to watch,” said spectator Samantha Mendoza. “And, both teams may have struggled at the plate, but the hits that were made, allowing us to see how good of a defense both teams had.”
Imperial eked out a win of this conference game, but both teams came to play defense. Towards the end of the game, Imperial’s bats started to heat up, but Calexico answered back with a solid defense, stopping any more runs.
Moving into the last inning, Calexico had their final at bats to rally for a win. Calexico did put the ball in play and had runners on base. The rally was short lived as Imperial held the runners and their defense netted the three outs needed to end the game.[envira-gallery id=”74426″]
