IMPERIAL â€“ The Imperial County Board of Supervisors presented several checks to various Imperial schools during their off-site board meeting Tuesday evening to benefit youth programs.
The Imperial High School Link Crew received a check in the amount of $10,000 to be utilized for workshop, leadership retreats, and school programs.
A Link Crew is made up of members of the junior and senior class that are trained to be Link Crew Leaders who act as positive role models, motivators, student mentors and teachers helping guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful transitioning to high school.
The Imperial High School girls softball team and the Imperial High School baseball team both received a check for $4,000 for the purchase of team equipment and uniforms.
Additionally, Holbrook School received $2,500 for materials, tools and paint for the Rainforest Project.
In partnership with the City of Imperial, the Rainforest Art Project engages children and their families in art projects that build a deep sense of pride and ownership in the community. Downtown Imperial if filled with various Rainforest Art projects.
District 3 Supervisor Michael Kelly said it was a pleasure to give back to the community and especially to the youth.
