IMPERIAL- The hot topic of the Monday night monthly Imperial Unified School District board meeting was the volunteer program and wanting to change the education code concerning volunteers.
Nancy Rood, principal of Ben Hulse Elementary, asked the board to change the requirement guidelines for volunteer workers.
Currently, Imperial Schools require the volunteer to have a copy of their driver license number and social security number on file at their designated School.
Rood was requesting that due to numerous parents’ complaints, volunteers should not have to have social security numbers on file, but only show their driver licenses for proof of identity and address. The Board agreed with Rood and voted and approved the action.
“With the volunteers name and address we can comply with Megan’s Law and there we can see if the person wanting to volunteer is a convicted sexual offender,” said Rood about the process.
