IMPERIAL COUNTY â€”Â The Imperial County Sheriffâ€™s Office has received several reports of a subject pretending to be from the Imperial County Sheriffâ€™s Office who is apparently calling local residents with claims that they have a warrant for arrest. Those called are being told they did not show up for required jury duty and must pay a fine to clear up a warrant that has been issued.
These calls are fraudulent and have no connection to the Imperial County Sheriffâ€™s Office or the Imperial County Superior Court. Anyone who receives a phone call from someone demanding payment for an outstanding warrant should report the situation immediately as a crime. If you feel that you may have missed jury duty you can contact the Jury Commissionerâ€™s Office.
The Sheriffâ€™s Office and the Imperial County Superior Court will never call and ask for personal information. Never give personal information such as your address, phone numbers, e-mail address, driverâ€™s license number, Social Security Number (SSN), birth date, birth place, schoolâ€™s name, or student ID number to callers.
