Imperial and Calipatria make state’s fastest-growing city list

SACRAMENTO – The state data report population and housing trends for 482 California cities, last year, all but 43 cities saw an increase in residents, with the declines typically experienced in the state’s rural areas. The state releases population estimates each year for cities to use for budgeting and planning purposes. The estimates are done using housing data, driver’s licenses and government records.

10 fastest-growing California cities

1. McFarland*(Kern County): Up 8.9% to 13,745

2. Chowchilla*(Madera County): Up 8.7% to 18,971

3. Dublin: Up 7.1% to 53,462

4. Calipatria*(Imperial County): Up 5.5% to 7,517

5. Irvine: Up 4.9% to 242,651

6. Adelanto* (San Bernardino County): Up 4.3% to 32,511

7. Campbell: Up 4.0% to 41,993

8. Rio Vista: Up 3.9% to 7,934

9. Imperial (Imperial County): Up 3.8% to 16,708

10. San Marcos (San Diego County): Up 3.5% to 90,179
