BRAWLEY – The Brawley Little League Juniors All-Star team took the victory over Oceanside National on Tuesday at Rancho Penasquitos with a strong game at the plate and on the hill, making them the first team ever to win the sub-division for the Imperial Valley.
George Mickle had three extra-base hits for the Brawley Little League Junior All-Stars. He singled in the first inning, tripled in the third inning, and doubled in the fourth and seventh innings.
Seven runs in the opening three innings allowed Brawley Little League Juniors All-Stars to easily put away Oceanside National. An RBI single by Jacob Sapp and a two-run single by Mickle in the first inning helped Brawley put some runs on the board early.
Dylan Reina threw 94 pitches carrying Brawley through five innings.
Jonathan Rodriguez, Mickle and Sapp helped lead Brawley Little League Juniors All-Stars. They combined for eight hits and six RBIs.
“It felt good†when asked about today’s win, Rodriguez commented.  “I think the whole team came through with good defense and hits.â€Â Rodriguez was part of last year’s team that made it to the sub-division game, but was unable to advance.
“Our pitching needs to be good and our hitting†Rodriguez said, as the teams prepares for their toughest challenge yet. Brawley has been the underdog since they moved up in the bracket throughout this sub-division playoff. The teams’ unity, care and concern for each other, and love of the game will propel them even further throughout this series. We wish them the best.
They are scheduled to battle on Friday, July 25th in Tehachapi at 6pm.
The team is asking for donations of any value to help pay for expenses to the Division playoffs, and hopefully Regional playoffs two days later, in Vancouver, WA. Â Please contact Brawley Little League President, Jesse Rodriguez, at 760-791-8303 for details.
