IMPERIAL — The Hidalgo Society Folklorico of Brawley came outfitted in traditional dress to show off Mexico’s classic and beautiful cultural dances at the Plaza de las Culturas Saturday night at the Imperial Valley Fair grounds.
The Hidalgo Society Folklorico of Brawley has been around for the past 23 years, performing at the fairgrounds every year and is the longest lasting Folklorico group in the Imperial Valley according to Event Coordinator, Max Reyes.
Reyes explained that part of the club’s goals is dedicated to preserving the Mexican Culture, but is open to anyone wishing to participate and has had members from different cultural backgrounds in the past.
The people performing range in ages from four to fifteen years old.
“With the help from the parents who keep bringing their children to the program, we’re able to keep the culture alive”, said Reyes.
