IMPERIAL – With the 2016 edition of the California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta a month away, it’s time to put the paperwork together to enter an exhibit and compete for some of the $13,000 in cash prizes that are handed out each year to fair exhibitors.
Deadline for submitting entry forms is Feb. 1.
This year’s 10-day fair, with a theme of “Hay Bales and Cow Tales” runs February 26 through March 6.
The fair has initiated an online entry system at www.ivexpo.com. Adult exhibitors using the online system will not be charged an entry fee.
All Junior Exhibitors (livestock & still entries) are required to submit their entries through the online entry program and will be required to pay the posted entry fees for their animals or items.
After logging onto the IV Expo home page, the entry system can be accessed by clicking on the “Fair” button, then on the ShoWorks logo and following the instructions.
The fair has continued its proactive effort to boost adult entries and will again hold a Fair Entries Workshop. It will be 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. January 30 in the Hulsienda on the fairgrounds at 200 E. Second St., Imperial.
Exhibit superintendents will be on hand to help people fill out the paperwork and answer questions. A computer also is available for the public to use in the fair office to access the online system.
While all paperwork is due Feb. 1, the actual entries are not needed until closer to fair time.
There are many ways for people to exhibit at the fair. All of the categories are included in the Exhibitor Handbook posted on the fair website.
