Hector Meza Recognized as Paramedic of the Year

Gold Cross paramedic Hector Meza (center) was honored by the Imperial County Board of Supervisors May 17 as Paramedic of the Year.

EL CENTRO — The Imperial County Board of Supervisors recognized Gold Cross Ambulance Service Paramedic Hector Meza, as Paramedic of the Year during Tuesday’s board meeting. Meza was nominated by Gold Cross Ambulance Service for his high level of professional and compassionate patient care throughout his career. Meza has served as a paramedic and field training officer in Imperial County for seven years and was a recipient of the California Ambulance Association’s 2016 “Star of Life Award.”

Meza has become a leader for other EMS providers to follow, and serves as a source of advice and encouragement for many EMTs and paramedics throughout Imperial County. He also serves as a mentor for new paramedics completing the Imperial Valley College Paramedic Program and advocates for each of his patients to ensure they receive the best care during their time of need.
