letter to the editor 612x674The Heber Public Utility District 85th Anniversary Parade, Costume Run and Street Fair was a huge success thanks to the hard work of our dedicated HPUD staff, community volunteers and supporters.  For the first time, Heber hosted a parade with nearly 40 entries ranging from middle school and high school bands, drill teams, elected officials, school groups and 4-H show animals.  The street fair drew over 30 booths and live music by Pure Inspiration a local Heber band.  Nearly 2,500 people participated in the parade and street fair!

On behalf of the Heber Public Utility District Board of Directors I’d like to extend our appreciation to Supervisor Jack Terrazas, Sherriff Ray Loera, Undersheriff Fred Miramontes and the Imperial County Sherriff’s Office, Fire Chief Tony Rouhotas and the Imperial County Fire Department, Battalion Chief Salvador Flores and the Imperial Valley College Fire Academy, Senior Deputy Andrew Lowenthal and the Imperial County Explorers, Juny Marmolejo and Anita Martinez for their support during the events.

We would also like to thank Juan Cruz, Joe Montenegro, Bob Fischer, Margie Lizarraga, Supervisor Ray Castillo, Judge Christopher Plourd and Judge Ruth Bermudez-Montenegro for serving as parade announcers and judges.

A special thank you to our parade and street fair sponsors: Acme Safety & Supply Company, Ormat Heber Facilities, Gibson & Schaefer, Conveyor Group, Pacificland International, El Toro Land & Cattle Company, Estrada System Group, Scaroni Family of Companies, The Holt Group, Kennedy’s Market and CR&R.

The Heber Public Utility District will continue the celebration with a Gala Dinner & Art Show.  Please join us on November 16th for our 85th Anniversary Celebration Gala Dinner, which will be held at Club Lohoo in Heber.  For more information, visit our special event website – www.heber85.com.
