EL CENTRO – On December 6, 2013 at around 7: 50 a.m., Jose Meneses age 55 of El Centro, was driving a 2001 International Flatbed truck, loaded with chicken pellets, southbound on Ferrell Road.
Elvia Gomez Gonzalez, age 59 of El Centro was driving a 2009 Nissan Versa, northbound on Ferrell Road, approaching Meneses’ vehicle. Meneses traveled into the northbound lane to begin making a left turn into a private farm field access road.
Gomez noticed the flatbed truck was in her lane and applied her brakes. Gomez was unable to stop before both vehicles collided head on; causing major fractures to Gomez’s left leg. Gomez was flown from the scene to Desert Regional Medical Center by REACH Air Ambulance.
This collision is still under investigation.
