EL CENTRO – On Friday, December 6th, at 7:50 a.m., Jose Meneses, 55 from El Centro, was driving a 2001 International Flatbed truck, loaded with chicken pellets, southbound on Ferrell Rd.
Elvia Gomez Gonzalez, 59, El Centro, driving a 2009 Nissan Versa, she was headed northbound on Ferrell Rd., approaching Meneses’ vehicle
Meneses traveled into the northbound lane to begin making a left turn into a private farm field access road.
Gomez noticed the flatbed truck was in her lane and applied her brakes. Gomez was unable to stop before both vehicles collided head on, causing major injuries to Gomez’s left leg. She suffered fractures to her left leg.
Gomez was flown from the scene to Desert Regional Medical Center by REACH Air Ambulance.
This collision is still under investigation.
