BRAWLEY – Greg Smith was awarded the 2015 Margaret Award Thursday, October 15, at the 12th Annual Foundation Gala at Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District (PMHD) by the Pioneers Memorial Hospital Foundation (PMHF).
Smith was selected as this year’s honoree for his personal commitment of time, effort, and service to the community and to the PMH foundation.
Nick Pricola made the presentation to Smith.
“This man personifies the very best of service and all the great descriptive words fit beyond measure; excellence, dedication, commitment, selflessness, and humility,” said Pricola. “All of these attributes come in a personal, face to face, and hands on way – a man who is always ready, willing, and able to do the hard work and pull the wagon. He has served as president of the PMH foundation a total of 12 years. He has been on the executive leadership committee for over 20 years, and has chaired this event for over 12 years. You will be hard pressed to fine a more worthy and deserving person to receive this award.”
The award surprised Smith, who is an owner of Smith-Kandal Insurance and Real Estate in Brawley.
“I am very honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Smith. “I am proud of what the foundation has achieved over the past years and that we have been able to make important, life saving additions to the medical equipment in our hospital.”
