Four Brawleyites injured in rollover

(August 24, 2012, BRAWLEY) – On Wednesday, August 22, at around 8 p.m., George G. Armenta, 56, drove his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee down Huff Road, south of Imler Road, going approximately 40 MPH. Amenta had three male teenagers in his car. All were Brawley residents.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee drifted on the right dirt shoulder and when Amenta felt his vehicle began to lose control, he over corrected to the left. He tried to get the Jeep back onto the road and subsequently overturned on the right open desert. The Jeep came to rest on its wheels, in a southwesterly direction.

Amenta had minor damages and was not taken to the hospital, one of the 16 year old boys suffered moderate injuries and Gold Cross Ambulance took him to Pioneers Memorial Hospital. The 17 year old boy was taken by Reach Air Ambulance to Desert Regional Hospital while the other 16 year old boy was taken to Pioneers by Cross Ambulance. They both had moderate injuries, too.

The road was closed for the landing/take off of Reach Air Ambulance. The collision remains under investigation.
