“Fiesta De Artesanias” Showcases Artistry from Mexico



CALEXICO –  Day two of the 24th Annual Mariachi Festival Sin Fronteras “Viva Calexico” showcased beautifully handcrafted artwork, including jewelry, with “Fiesta De Artesanias” at the Carmen Durazo Cultural Arts Center in Calexico on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

Guests savored traditional Mexican food such as tacos, enchiladas, Mexican rice, beans and salsa as they watched performances by the Ballet Folklorico, Danzon Dance Group, Mariachi Acero Del Valle and the finalist from the Mariachi Idol Competition.

The Carmen Durazo Arts Center beautifully displayed handcrafted jewelery, clothing, hand painted pictures, and wood sculptures from various corners of Mexico. Guests had the option of purchasing the works of arts.

During the event, visitors voted for their favorite Mariachi Idol, reducing the finalists to six: Emeterio Beltran, Rosa Zuniga, Enrique Terrones “El Asendado”, Flor Castro, Aaron Hernandez and April Estephania Rivas.

The 24th Annual Mariachi Festival Sin Fronteras “Viva Calexico” goes through Saturday May 16, 2015.
