BRAWLEY – On May 31, Saturday, at 8:16 a.m., CHP dispatch was advised of a traffic collision with an ambulance responding on Highway 86, northbound, just south of Keystone Road.
Investigating Officer Flores came upon a white Peterbilt truck tractor that was within the dirt center median with an attached lowboy utility trailer.
The driver had been traveling northbound on Hwy 86, and according to the officer’s logs, drove into the center median for an unknown purpose.
The trailer’s cargo, a yellow Komatsu Wheel loader, became detached from the safety chains and shifted forward crushing the driver’s cabin.
The 50-year-old male from Brawley was trapped inside the tractor and sustained fatal injuries.
The cause of this collision is still under investigation.
