EL CENTRO –On Tuesday, March 31st, at approximately 12:50 p.m., Sandra Quiles, 29 from Los Angeles, was traveling north bound on highway 86, north of Allen Road.
In the car with her were four others, a 17-year-old female, a 57-year-old female, Adela Quiles, a 56-year-old male, and another 10-year-old minor boy.
The left rear tire of the vehicle had tread separation causing Quiles to lose control, driving onto the right dirt shoulder. The Ford overturned several times before coming to rest on its wheels.
Of the five, the 17 year old female died at the scene, and the 56-year-old male succumbed to his injuries at Desert Regional Hospital. The driver, Sandra Quiles, and Adela Quiles were taken to Pioneer Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries, and the 11-year-old boy was taken to Desert Regional, also with moderate injuries.
All passengers were restrained with safety equipment.
The collision remains under investigation.
