Farm Bureau Updates

2013 Imperial County Farm Bureau Historical Calendars

Our 2013 Farm Bureau Historical Photo Calendars are in stock and feature photos of Imperial County’s agriculture history.

Plus, proceeds from calendar sales will go toward helping local students participate in Farm Smart ag education tours. Imperial County is fortunate enough to be home to Farm Smart, which has offered educational agriculture tours to more than 80,000 local students and winter visitors since 2002.

Ask anyone who’s been through the program and they will tell you how much of an impact Farm Smart has. Parents of students who’ve attended a tour frequently learn from their kids as they explain ag practices they see driving through the Valley or sing the praises of a newly discovered vegetable they see in the grocery store.

Virtually every school in the Valley sends students through the Farm Smart program. However in this era of deep budget cuts, even the cost of busing students to the program is more than many schools can afford. Proceeds from the 2013 calendar will help us make sure that no class will turn down an opportunity to take students through this fantastic program because of the cost.

Email or call Farm Bureau (760-352-3831) to order your calendars today, or for more information about the calendar or Farm Smart.

Duck Club Meeting

The Imperial County Farm Bureau Total Maximum Daily Load Voluntary Compliance (TMDL) Program will be holding a mandatory drainshed meeting for all duck club owners and/or managers on Saturday, January 26th at 1:30PM at the Calipatria Inn located at 700 North Sorensen Drive in Calipatria.  If you own or manage a duck club(s) and did not attend the previously held drainshed meetings, you must attend this meeting.  As a member of the Voluntary TMDL Compliance Program (TMDL Program), it is required by the Regional Water Quality Control Board that you attend one drainshed meeting per year.  For further information contact the ICFB Office.
