Fact: Menvielle and Mendoza must go

5

There has been a lot of rhetoric in this year’s IID election. Some are saying lies are being told, others are saying the truth is being denied.

People like me will go so far as to say that the newspaper out of El Centro often appears to be an arm of influence for the incumbents who have mismanaged the IID for so many years while the serious questions have been ignored and the public has been buffaloed.

Facts are stubborn. We know a lot about what’s happened under Menvielle and Mendoza:

  • · The disastrous gas hedging fiasco was allowed to happen, costing IID ratepayers $160 million.
  • · These two allowed the hiring of Brady and his bunch of outsiders.
  • · Allowed the over-charging of millions to the electric ratepayer. (According to IID minutes, the controller “reported an over-collection in the energy cost adjustment account of almost $20 million” with the amount rolling into 2012 to be $37.7 million). I imagine it’s probably even higher by now.
  • · Allowed for the collection of $20 million in Public Benefits Charge funds when the district can’t give the benefits back to the ratepayer fast enough. (The PBC charge is no longer mandated by the state, yet under Menvielle and Mendoza, they keep collecting it).

Those are just some of the real reasons, rather than reheortic, why I’m voting for Bruce Kuhn and Steve Benson because it is time for a change. Mr. Menvielle and Mrs. Mendoza have been on the IID board for far too long and have made too many seriously, painfully wrong decisions that have hurt me, my family, my neighbors and friends in our pocketbooks and I’m not going to give them the opportunity to continue doing it.

  1. The Brady Bunch created a lot of BS to support what they wanted to do. The outside consultants were told what to do and they did it.They were Brady cronies. Sorry, Homegirl – throw it all out and look at the company with fresh idea.

    • Spoken like a true observer/spectator…read it and then make more informed and intelligent observations. The analysis, information and input in the report was provided by long time and talented insiders. Valuable valuable stuff!!!!!

  2. Menvielle and Mendoza have created a culture of corruption at the IID that can only be corrected by firing them. Vote for Kuhn and Benson. Menviele and Mendoza sold out a long time ago to special outside groups nd contractors. I also think Galindo got a raw deal in her race against Sanchez.Without IID and the paper covering Sanchez’s lies by delaying the publication of the Grand Jury report, Galindo would have beaten Sanchez, as she lost by only a few votes anyway. She works hard and is someone who digs for the facts. With Hanks, Dessert, Kuhn, Benson and Galindo we will have a board that will clean up the corruption at IID.

  3. Maria- I’d like to point out one thing to you that is pretty important particularly to incoming new IID board members. While it is true the Brady was a bunch of shiney shoed out of towners who never got buyin from staff or management for their program-they did leave behind a multi million dollar management report that is a very effective plan to optimize the IID business operation/culture and to get IID operation running cost effectively for the ratepayers. The report was very intelligently pulled together in combination with an outside management consulting group and the IID business analysis group. It was brilliant and our analysts learned so much while also contributing their years of knowledge of the inner workings IID’s broken crony business culture. Incoming new IID board members, if you want to make a difference and come in to play highly informed about the IID and how it does and does not operate I recommend this management report to you as top priority reading.

  4. Go get em Maria!!!!!- now if you want to keep this POOP from happening again, by continuing to enable the self serving interests of our newly elected Directors, DEMAND THAT THE IID ENHANCE AND ENFORCE ITS GOVERNANCE POLICY. KEEP THE PERSONAL AND POLITICAL CONFLICTS OF INTEREST OF IID BOARD MEMBERS AND SPECIAL INTERESTS ONCE AND FOR ALL OUT OF THE IID BUSINESS OPERATION AND FOCUSED UPON DIRECTING, LEADING AND GUIDING THE OVERALL STRATEGY AND DIRECTION OF THE IID ORGANIZATION IN THE INTERESTS OUR COMMUNITIES AND OUR REGION.
