BRAWLEY â€“Â One World Beef President Eric Brandt gave an update on the soon-to-open beef processing plant in an exclusive interview with The Desert Review.
â€œIt has been a long journey just to get where we are at,â€ said Brandt. â€œRight now, we are in the refurbishment phase. We are just bringing in employees for maintenance and engineering. About 20 people have been brought on so far and and we are using some local contractors. One World Beef is very blessed to have the start of a really good team. We will be starting with a very small team and are hoping for a mid-September start up. However, there is a lot left to do. Â The application process has been opened up to identify the key positions we need to fill. Hiring probably wonâ€™t really start for another month.â€
â€œThis will be a total processing facility,â€ continued Brandt. â€œOne World Beef will be open for business. We will be much like a custom winery, processing for other labels, with Brandt Beef being one of those. Value-added products such as Brandt Beef Jerky will eventually be produced here as well.”
Brandt went on to say that One World Beef will be much different than what was there before. Â They will be a craft producer, creating something special.
“Some of the best beef is here in our local area,” said Brandt. “Imperial Valley is a special place. These products we have here must be not only produced in the right way, but we need to market them correctly. Hopefully it will be a good thing for the whole community, not just this facility, but also the cattle feeders, the farmers, etc. If itâ€™s done right, we can make a positive impact.â€
â€œWe all feel very blessed with this opportunity we have been presented with,â€ concluded Brandt. â€œWe have one shot to do this and we want to make sure we do it right. One World Beef wants to be a part of the community.â€œ
