El Centro Sunsations Beat Holtville Stingrays in Swim Meet

HOLTVILLE – The Holtville Stingrays hosted the El Centro Sunsations June 28 for a swim meet that gave El Centro the victory with a higher overall score.

Girls six and under took to the blocks for the first butterfly stroke of the meet, and Khloe De La Cruz of El Centro won this event in a speedy fashion with a time of 55:78.

For the next race, six and under boys gathered at the starting point for a display of their efforts. With six swimmers in this race, Arien Dewbre of Holtville had the fastest time of 45:42. Moving on to the seven- and eight-year-olds, the girls took their marks with eight racers competing. While families cheered these racers on, Lexee Roeseler of Holtville gave it her all by winning the race with a time of 29:50.

With the butterfly strokes coming to an end, the contestants for the backstrokes prepped for their races. The first racers to take their marks were the six and under age group. The girls gathered at the start first for a steady race, where Brielle Butler won her heat with a time of 52:44. For the boys, Austin Salazar won with a big lead over his competition with a time of 2:25 as the young group of swimmers raced to the other side of the pool, their coaches were right next to them cheering them on to get the most out of the athletes.

As the swim meet came to a close, families and friends congratulated all the swimmers for their hard work.

The final outcome of meet gave the El Centro Sunsations a victory as they finished with a better overall score than the Holtville Stingrays.
