El Centro Sector Border Patrol Foils Smuggling Attempt Discovering $162,500 in Liquid Methamphetamine



Coachella, Calif. – Today, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station foiled an illegal narcotics smuggling attempt during a vehicle stop on two vehicles and seized over 25 pounds of liquid methamphetamine.




The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m., when Border Patrol agents stopped a 21-year-old male driving a white 1991 Ford F350 and his companion, an 18-year-old male. The men were traveling in tandem with a gray 1998 Jeep Cherokee.




A Border Patrol K9 unit conducted an inspection which yielded a positive alert on both vehicles. Agents conducted a more thorough investigation and discovered approximately 25 pounds of liquid methamphetamine located in the auxiliary tank of the F350.




The liquid methamphetamine has an estimated street value of $162,500.




The suspected smugglers, all United States citizens, were taken into custody. The men, vehicles, and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
