Niland, Calif. – Over the weekend, El Centro Sector Border Patrol and an Imperial County Sheriff deputy saved a couple and their puppy.
The couple and their pet had become stranded in chest-deep flood waters after a large wash, located approximately one-half mile north of Hot Mineral Spa Road on Highway 111, had overflowed and caused the vehicle they were traveling in to stall.
The incident was reported by a passing motorist, who had sustained vehicle damage while trying to cross through the flood waters at highway speeds.
Border Patrol agents and an Imperial County Sheriff deputy arrived on scene and worked together to rescue the couple, who were affected by this weekend’s flash floods.
There were no injuries reported and emergency medical technicians were not requested.
