EL CENTRO — A fire broke out on the 600 block of Main Street in El Centro on April 7, Thursday morning. The Imperial Count Fire Department received a call reporting the fire at 9:46 a.m. and the fire department responded with three engine companies to the blaze, eventually extinguishing the fire. The fire started around a boat and an automobile in an auto shop. Firemen kept damage confined within the place of origin.

In the incident, fire mechanic chief, Cedric Cesena, stated that one male was involved with the fire and lost their life. As of press time, the identity of the person was unknown, nor their role in the incident.

“The investigation is on-going by the city of El Centro Fire department and the El Centro Police Department and it is unclear at this time who the deceased is,” said Fire Mechanic Chief Cedric Cesena.
