EL CENTRO – On January 14, 2014, officers from the El Centro Police Department contacted a subject while following up on an investigative lead in reference to recent thefts and burglaries from storage lockers at different facilities within the City of El Centro.

The officers conducted a probation compliance check at the subject’s residence and located several items identified as stolen property.

Officers continued to follow investigative leads and arrested a total of four suspects and recovered additional stolen property from two other locations.

The property included a variety of electronic equipment and tools estimated to be worth thousands of dollars.

El Centro residents Justin Botello, age 35, Roxanne Olivares, age 39, Jesus Leal, age 59, and Armando Avala, age 32, were arrested for possession of stolen property and booked at Imperial County Jail.

The investigation was a result of a extensive collaboration of police work from the Patrol and Investigation Divisions of the El Centro Police Department.

The work carried out by the officers is an example of the El Centro Police Department’s commitment to uncompromising excellence and professionalism.

The El Centro Police Department would like to remind the portion of our community that utilize storage facilities to regularly check on their property.

Many victims were surprised their locks were removed and replaced with identical looking locks making a cursory visual inspection insufficient.

The case is still under investigation and the El Centro Police Department asks that community members with information about this, or any other crime , contact them at 760-353-2111.
