EC Police nab offenders in high speed chase

EL CENTRO — Shortly after midnight, El Centro Police attempted a traffic stop near 8th Street and Broadway, Wednesday. The vehicle refused to stop, instead the driver fled with the police in pursuit.

The seven minute chase included running various stop lights with speeds exceeding 75 mph at times.. At one point officers saw an object tossed from the fleeing car.

The chase ended as the fleeing vehicle ran into a traffic signal at 4th and Ross in El Centro. One of the many passengers bailed from the car running from the scene. The runner was quickly apprehended. Six people from the car were transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center for injuries sustained from the collision.

El Centro Police was assisted by the Narcotics Task Force in the capture and processing of the individuals. No names have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
