Early morning accident on Keystone, police ask for witnesses

Keystone accident

IMPERIAL — An early-morning collision Wednesday sent a motorcyclist to a Palm Springs hospital.

At roughly 6 a.m., Brawley resident Alejandro Hernandez, 28, was traveling south on Highway 111 approaching Keystone Road, said Sgt. DeeAnn Goudie of the California Highway Patrol.

For unknown reasons, Goudie said, Hernandez began braking his 2009 Yamaha motorcycle just north of Keystone Road before impacting with an unknown vehicle at the intersection of the two roads.

Hernandez was ejected from his motorcycle, suffering major trauma.

While there were no witnesses to the actual collision, passing motorists stopped at the scene and called 911, after which the motorcyclist was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center.

Goudie explained that without witnesses, they wouldn’t be able to determine what caused the accident.

Anyone with information is strongly encouraged to contact investigating Highway Patrol Officer Dewayne Davis at 760-482-2500.
