DUI Fatality Involves Three Young Men from Brawley

BRAWLEY – On August 26, around 6:17 p.m., Brawley driver, Angel Manuel Lopez, 19, was driving a black 2002 Ford Ranger, northbound on Highway 86, south of Lydick Loop South, by the Spreckles Sugar Plant.

Lopez lost control of the Ford, causing the vehicle to overturn several times.

An 18-year-old male passenger, also from Brawley, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the traffic collision.

Lopez and a 17 year-old Brawley minor passenger were transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital with major injuries .

The traffic collision is under investigation and the Lopez is under investigation for driving under the influence of alcohol.
