Donaciana “Dora” Vásquez, age 83 of Brawley, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.  She was born on September 19, 1932, in Estanzuela, Jalisco, Mexico, to the late Jesus Ornelas and Francisca Tapia. In 1949, she relocated to Brawley and met her future husband, Aurelio Vasquez the following year.

Dora was a fan of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema and also enjoyed listening to the music of Perdo Infante and Jorge Negrete. Her hobbies included knitting and spending time with her family and friends. One of her proudest moments was when she became an American citizen in 1994.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Ornelas and Francisca Tapia, her sister, Carmen Zermeño, and her daughters Dorita Pedroza and Norma Ruiz.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Aurelio Vasquez. Her children Jorge Vásquez of Brawley, Mercedes Segura (Richard) of San Bernardino, Rosa Vásquez of Carlsbad, and Pedro Vásquez (Melisa) of Pasadena.  Dora has six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
