WINTERHAVEN – Monday night June 3, 2013 at about 2300 hours, Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a 911 call of a subject with a gun at a residence in the area of 900 Baseline Road in Winterhaven, CA.
When the Deputies arrived on scene they were able to establish that two subjects had entered the residence armed with handguns. The subjects demanded money, and eventually fled on foot with a television set. The subjects also assaulted the homeowner, who suffered a minor cut to the head.
The subjects removed the phone jacks from the wall so that nobody could dial 911 from the house phone; however one of the residents was able to use a cell phone to call 911.
When the Deputies arrived they had just missed the subjects, who had fled the scene on foot toward some nearby irrigation fields. The Deputies on scene requested assistance from the Winterhaven CHP Office, Quechan Police Department and Yuma Sector Border Patrol.
After a lengthy search the first subject was located laying in one of the fields. A few hours, later the second subject was located. The television which was stolen was also located.
Both subjects were booked into the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Jail Facility. Reports are in the process of being filed with the Imperial County District attorney for various charges on both subjects to include robbery and burglary.
The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank the other agencies who assisted in this case. Because of this teamwork we were able to capture and arrest the subjects in this incident.
