Deputies and Holtville Fire save a Life


SheriffHOLTVILLE - On October 24, at 12:38 p.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call from a driver about a male that had fallen into a canal near the 100 block of West 9th Street in the city of Holtville.

Upon arrival, Deputy Lisa Diaz saw an electric wheelchair partially submerged in the dirt-lined canal.

Deputy Diaz entered the waist-deep water and located a submerged 74 year old male.

She lifted him out of the water and onto the embankment.

Senior Deputy Figueroa from the Sheriff’s Office Holtville Station arrived and assisted Deputy Diaz in removing the 74 year old male from the canal.

Holtville Fire Department Officers initiated C.P.R. on the subject.

The subject began to regain consciousness as he was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
