EL CENTRO – The pre-trial conference and VOP hearing for murder suspect Martin Gabriel Andrade, 20, was held Friday morning inside the El Centro Court house. El Centro Police detectives have identified Andrade as a suspect in the stabbing death of Brawley teenager Martin Alberto Garza on January 6, 2013. While Andrade has appeared in court numerous times, his counsel has requested and received continuances at each appearance.

Andrade’s court dates originally were set with a readiness trial scheduled for November 10 followed by a jury trial on November 12, but Public Defender Donald Levine asked Judge Poli Flores for a conference in the judge’s chambers to decipher future court dates and to reschedule the previously set dates.

The new court dates for Andrade’s pre-trial are set for January 5, 2015 with the readiness trial date set for March 30, 2015. The trial is scheduled to begin March 31, 2014. All court dates will be held at the El Centro Court House beginning at 8:30 a.m.
