County to pave roads

Dust churned up by trucks add to the Valley’s poor air quality

EL CENTRO- The County adopted Phase 1 of overlaying various county roads in Imperial County. The Clerk of the Board will now advertise for formal bids to be opened on November 30, 2012.

The project is valued at $4 million dollars to either overlay or do digouts and slurries over 27 miles of unpaved roads.

Most of these are in the southeast portion of the valley. The public works department chose the less complicated projects first that need minimal engineering and repair.

Paved roads are part of the environmental package that help the Imperial Valley reach air quality standards set by the state and federal government.
