WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congressman Juan Vargas commended Apple, Inc. for its selection of Pine Elementary School in Holtville and Rockwood Elementary School in Calexico, for a grant through President Obama’s ConnectED initiative designed to promote the use of technology in schools.
“I am very pleased that Apple has chosen two of our Imperial Valley schools for this technology grant through ConnectED,” said Vargas. “This funding will deliver the necessary tools and support to empower our children as they learn the skills needed to compete in our global economy.”
ConnectED is an initiative designed by the federal government, in partnership with many private companies like Apple, to provide technology grants to K-12 teachers and students. Within the next few years, 144 schools throughout 29 states will receive grants totaling over $100 million. Each school will receive; an iPad for each student, an iPad and MacBook for all teachers and administrators, and an Apple TV for each classroom.
