IMPERIAL — Two city council positions as well as the offices of city clerk and city treasurer will be up for election on the November 8 Imperial city ballot.
At the close of the nomination period on Friday, August 12, the following candidates have filed and nominations for these offices are now closed:
City Council: ( in alphabetical order)
P. Robert Amparano
Mark T. Gran
Lee H. Hindman
Darrell W. Pechtl
City Treasurer: Stacy Cox
City Clerk: Debra Jackson
As current Council Member Doug Cox did not refile, there was an extension for filing nomination papers for his office until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 17. An incumbent may not file during the extended filing period.
Other individuals filing and qualifying for City Council are Darrell Pechtl and P. Robert Amparano.
In order to be eligible to hold office as a member of the city council, city clerk or city treasurer, a person must be a registered voter of Imperial at the time nomination papers are issued for his or her candidacy. In order to qualify as a registered voter in Imperial, you must be a United States citizen, a resident of Imperial, at least 18 years of age on the date of the next election, and not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction.
The current incumbents are Douglas Cox and Mark Gran on the city council, and City Clerk Debra Jackson and City Treasurer, Stacy Cox.
