City of Brawley asks for Drivers Awareness as Street Improvements begin

street closed

BRAWLEY, California – The City of Brawley encourages the driving public to plan ahead in anticipation of extended driving times, especially during peak periods of travel as major street repair will block normally traveled routes.

The public’s patience and extra care are requested during this time.

For the next 4-6 weeks, the following areas are scheduled for street improvements:

  • A Street between Western Avenue and North 8thStreet
  • North Imperial Avenue between North Plaza and Jones Street
  • Northwest area of Brawley – portions of Parkside, Ridge Park and Bernardo Padilla Subdivisions

These projects are funded by Measure D and the State Local Partnership Program.  Originally adopted in 1989, Measure D provides for a half-cent sales tax on fuel purchases.  The vast majority of funds are devoted to critical road repair projects, with 5% targeted for regional projects.
