IMPERIAL COUNTY â€“ The California Highway Patrol released Independence Dayâ€™s Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) Stats; 16 DUIâ€™s, 5 injury traffic collisions, 6 non-injury traffic collisions and no fatal traffic collisions.
The 2016 Independence Dayâ€™s holiday Maximum Enforcement Period, began at 6:00 P.M. on Friday July 1, and continued through 11:59 P.M. on Monday, July 4.
During the Maximum Enforcement Period, all available CHP Officers were on patrol. Their aim was to reduce the number of injuries and traffic violations during the holiday weekend.
During 2015 Independence Dayâ€™s holiday Maximum Enforcement Period Stats included; 9 DUIâ€™s, 2 injury traffic collisions, 5 non injury traffic collisions and 2 fatal traffic collisions.
