CHP Fatal Collision at the U.S. Navy Reservation Bombing Range


chp badgeOn Saturday, January 11, 2014 at approximately 1:50 p.m. in El Centro, James Fink, age 23 of San Diego, driving a 1996 Toyota 4Runner on a dirt road in the U.S. Navy Reservation Bombing Range which traverses through the open desert.

Fink was driving while under the influence of alcohol and lost control of his vehicle. Fink made an unsafe movement causing him to lose control of the vehicle and roll over.

The passenger of the 4Runner, Natalie Figueroa, age 19 of San Diego, was fully ejected from the vehicle and landed on the dirt surface. The vehicle came to rest on the left side and Fink and Figueroa were able to extricate themselves from the vehicle.

Upon the arrival of Imperial County Fire Station 3, both Fink and Figueroa were found ambulatory.

The right front passenger was found lying on the ground and was pronounced deceased at the scene. James Fink was transported to Desert Regional Hospital by REACH Air Ambulance, while Natalie Figueroa was transported to ECRMC by Naval Air Facility Ambulance.
