IMPERIAL – The Central Spartan’s Baseball team traveled to Imperial last Thursday evening to face the Imperial Tigers. It was clear that the Spartans could dominate the game, and they did with a 6-2 win over the Tigers.
The Spartans started the game with four runs in two innings, bringing the score to 4-0 after two innings. Spartans’ strong defense stunned the Tigers, but in the third inning Imperial shook it off and put two runs on the board.
The Spartans managed another run in the third inning, which brought the score to 5-2. The fourth and fifth innings remained scoreless as both teams upped their defense to keep the other from scoring.
At the top of the sixth, the Spartans managed another run and kept the Tigers from scoring in the bottom of the sixth. The score was 6-2, which carried to be the final score with the seventh inning scoreless.
For the Spartans, senior AJ Martin led offensively by going 2-3 with 3 RBIs and one homerun. Following Martin was senior Angel Ramirez who was 2-4 with 2 RBIs, and after Ramirez was junior Nathan Zamora who was 2-3 with 1 RBI and one run scored.
