BRAWLEY – The Brawley Union High Wildcat volleyball squad met the Central Union High Spartans in an IVL match up Thursday night in Brawley, where the Wildcat dominance was on full display, winning in straight sets on scores of 25-8, 25-11, and 25-8. The Wildcats dominated each game from start to finish and are showing themselves to be the team to beat in the Imperial Valley League.
After a rough start to the season, against tough San Diego and Desert League teams, the Wildcats have matured and improved overall as a team through the course of the season. So far they are posting near perfect showings in the their last two IVL matches.
“We’re eliminating mistakes game by game,” said Coach Phil Finnell after the victory. “The girls are having fun, which is important in a long season because we don’t want to get to the point where we are stale or are not working hard.”
Even after such dominant performances, Coach Finnell and the Wildcat squad have their eyes on the mission not yet accomplished, wrestling the IVL title away from Southwest, who ended the Wildcats eleven year IVL championship reign under Coach Finnell last year.
The Wildcats improve their record to 7-10 overall and 2-0 in IVL play and will have Calexico at home next Tuesday.
