California 2016 Halloween Sex Offender Registry Maps

Before the kids go out trick-or-treating on Halloween, it is a good time to take inventory of who is living in your neighborhood.

According to the California Department of Justice’s Megan’s Law website, there are approximately 52,800 registered sex offenders living in the state’s 58 counties. Of those, officials have the full address on record for some 40,000 individuals.

As of Tuesday, more than 5,300 offenders were in violation, the Megan’s Law site states.

Here are the number of registered sex offenders by county in California as of Thursday, tallied via the Megan’s Law website:

Parents and guardians are encouraged to visit the registry to identify the relevant addresses of convicted sex offenders in order to make informed decisions on what residences to approach for trick-or-treating.

Here’s how to find a map of sex offenders in your California community. First, visit the Megan’s Law home page. There’s some information you’ll need to read; scroll to the bottom, and click “continue.”

Next, you’ll be taken to a disclaimer page that you should read. Check the box once read, and click “continue” again.

Once you’ve arrived at the “search California registered sex offenders” page, you can use the menu on the left side of the screen to search by name, address, city, ZIP code or county.

If you’re doing a city search, click on “city” and start typing the name in the empty field on the right hand side. Click “search.”

To see a map of your town or county, click on the “map view” icon in the top right, and all of their locations will be shown on a map.

You may want to avoid trick-or-treating at these houses and apartments on Halloween or merely be aware of who’s living in your neighborhood during the rest of the year.
